How the hold works

Four steps, and you stay in control

The seller only gets paid after you've had the part in your hands.

1 · You pay

Checkout authorizes the full amount. Stripe holds it, the seller can't touch it.

2 · Seller ships

A pre-paid PartsMeet label with live tracking goes on the box.

3 · You inspect

48 hours from delivery to check the part matches the listing.

4 · Seller paid

You confirm and payment releases. Not right? Open a dispute instead.

What's covered, and what's not

Covered
  • Item not receivedThe carrier confirms delivery did not happen, or tracking stalls for over 21 days past the expected arrival date.
  • Not as describedThe part materially differs from the listing photos, title, description, or fitment claims: wrong part number, different condition, undisclosed damage, missing components.
  • Damaged in transitThe part was damaged during shipping and you report it within 48 hours of delivery with photo evidence, when the seller met packaging requirements.
Not covered
  • Change of mindBuyer's remorse after delivery, or a fitment mistake when the listing was accurate.
  • Damage after deliveryIncluding improper installation once the part is in your hands.
  • Off-platform paymentsZelle, Venmo, Cash App, wire. Protection only covers PartsMeet checkout.

Also excluded: items sold as-is with defects clearly disclosed in the listing, and any dispute opened after the confirmation window has closed.

Claim scope and cap

If your claim is approved, the remedy is a full refund of the transaction value: item price, shipping paid through PartsMeet, the PartsMeet Protection fee, the Stripe payment processing fee, and estimated duties collected at checkout. The refund is returned to your original payment method.

PartsMeet Protection is capped at the transaction value on the order in question. We do not cover consequential damages such as lost labor, a lost race weekend, rental car costs, or downtime. Claims are evaluated per order, not across multiple orders.

Claim window

Open a dispute within 48 hours of delivery as marked by the carrier's tracking. After that, the order auto-confirms and payment is released to the seller. Once auto-confirmed, PartsMeet Protection claims are closed for that order. For “item not received” claims where tracking shows non-delivery, you have up to 30 days from the expected delivery date.

The one rule that matters: always pay and message inside PartsMeet. The moment money moves off-platform, Protection can't help you.

How to open a claim

Go to your orders and click Open Dispute on the part in question within the window. Provide evidence: photos of the part as received, the packaging, and the shipping label, plus a written description of what differs from the listing. PartsMeet admin reviews within 2 business days. If approved, the refund is initiated to your original payment method (typically 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer).

Seller rights

Sellers have the right to respond to disputes with their own evidence. If a seller demonstrates that the part was delivered as described, the claim is denied and the seller is paid. Repeated abuse of PartsMeet Protection by bad-faith buyers may result in account restriction or termination.

What it costs

Protection is 3% of the item price, with a $2.99 minimum and a $99 cap, shown as its own line at checkout. It funds the payment hold, dispute resolution, and buyer protection on every order. Sellers pay nothing: no listing fee, no commission, and they keep 100% of the item price. Standard Stripe payment processing fees are passed through to the buyer at checkout as a separate line. See the full delivered price on any listing.
