Accessibility

Last reviewed September 28, 2026 · Report a problem: support@partsmeet.com

PartsMeet LLC wants every enthusiast to be able to find, buy and sell parts on PartsMeet, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. This page explains what we aim for, what we have done, where we still fall short, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

1. Our commitment

PartsMeet is a marketplace, so it only works if people can use it. We treat accessibility problems as bugs, not extras. When we build or change a page, we check that it can be used without a mouse, that it makes sense to a screen reader, and that text is easy to read.

2. The standard we follow

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make websites easier to use for people with a wide range of disabilities.

We describe PartsMeet as partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and the parts that do not yet are listed below under Known limitations.

3. What we have done

  • Tested every type of page on the site with automated accessibility checks, on a desktop screen and on a phone-sized screen, signed out and signed in as a buyer and as a seller.
  • Checked the main journeys by keyboard alone: searching and filtering, viewing a part, entering a shipping address at checkout, messaging a seller, filling in the listing form, and viewing and confirming an order.
  • Made sure every pop-up and slide-up panel keeps keyboard focus inside it, closes with the Escape key where it can be dismissed, and returns you to where you were.
  • Made adding photos work from the keyboard, when listing a part and when reporting a problem.
  • Added a pause button to the moving video at the top of the home page.
  • Added a "Skip to main content" link and a clearly visible outline on whatever has keyboard focus.
  • Darkened our lighter text colors so that text meets the WCAG contrast ratio against our backgrounds.
  • Gave form fields, buttons and icons names that screen readers can announce.
  • Made photo reordering in the listing form work from the keyboard: focus a photo, press Space to pick it up, use the arrow keys to move it, and press Space again to drop it.
  • Turned off movement and animation for anyone whose device is set to reduce motion.
  • Added automated accessibility checks to our release process, so a change that breaks them is stopped before it reaches the site.

4. Known limitations

We would rather tell you about these than have you find them on your own:

  • Payment and identity forms are run by Stripe. The card fields at checkout and the seller identity and payout setup are provided by Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe maintains the accessibility of those forms. If one of them does not work for you, tell us and we will help you finish and raise it with Stripe.
  • Photos are uploaded by sellers. Listing photos are described by the listing title and description rather than by a written description of each photo, so some visual detail in a photo may not be available to a screen reader. You can always ask the seller a question through Messages.
  • Live updates. New messages and order updates arrive in real time. Some screen readers may not announce every update as it happens, so refreshing the page will always show the latest state.
  • Screen reader testing is still in progress. Our checks so far are automated tests plus keyboard testing. We have not yet finished a full review with every major screen reader, and there may be problems we have not found.
  • Some older pages are still being updated to our current design, and a few of them have headings that skip a level. This does not stop anything from working, and we are fixing them as we go.

5. Report a problem

If something on PartsMeet is hard or impossible for you to use, please email us at support@partsmeet.com with the subject line "Accessibility". It helps us most if you include:

  • the page you were on (a link or a description is fine),
  • what you were trying to do and what happened instead, and
  • the device, browser and any assistive technology you were using, if you know them.

If you are in the middle of buying or selling a part and something is blocking you, say so and we will help you complete it another way, for example by email.

6. How quickly we respond

We will reply to accessibility reports within 5 business days. We will tell you what we found, what we are going to do about it, and when you can expect a fix.

7. When we last checked

This statement was last reviewed on September 28, 2026. We review it whenever we make a significant change to the site, and at least once a year.
